Using Visual Studio 2005 .Net and C# to develop GUI for Portable Hotspot and Power Management unit based on a PC 104 card with Windows XP operating system. I developed the control software which communicated with I2C modules over serial lines to smart batteries. The software monitors I2C Smart battery charging and performance. The system communicated with commercial DAC devices. These devices measured the current battery voltage. The system calculates the remaining life of the batteries in the system. And displays the information to a mini touch screen mounted in the top panel of the box. The system would also monitor the charging rate of the system when being charged by DC voltage from a vehicle or AC voltage from some AC source.
This system is mainly used by disaster teams like FEMA to set up portable hotspot in the field in order to establish a command post satellite link.
